Whether this makes you want to throw rotten tomatoes, eggs, or even shoes at us, we have to say itโ€”there are trends we hate this season. Just because something is trendy doesn’t mean you should wear it, right? And shelling out big money to wear the hottest trends of the seasons isn’t doing you any favors when that trend doesn’t suit you. So while everyone flaunts what they’re wearing to NYFW, we’re here to tell you what trends we think need to go back to the drawing board:

Dior Saddle Bag , Cycling Shorts, Ugly Sneakersย  and Animal Print Overload.

With chilly nights and gentle fall winds just around the corner, you need to equip your wardrobe with a few transitional pieces that will get you through the season. However, if youโ€™re not ready to say goodbye to summer, youโ€™ll be glad to hear that your stylish fall outfits can keep their summer flair. Here are several essential pieces that will keep you warm and stylish all through fall.

1. Cardigan

Thereโ€™s no outfit you canโ€™t wear with a lovely cardigan. Not only will the perfect cardigan keep you warm and cozy on chilly nights, but it will also help you create a layered and chic look. Itโ€™s one of those pieces that you can pair with almost any outfit. If your style is bohemian, wear a beautiful patterned cardigan over that white summer dress. Or, for a casual look, try a loose boyfriend cardigan over a long tank top and a pair of skinny jeans.

2. Floral Dress

Donโ€™t store away your lovely floral dresses just yet, because they will help you keep the summer spirit all through fall. Wear a woven sweater over a floral dress to stay warm on chilly days, or you can add several layers and use a belt to tie the look together. If youโ€™re a rocker at heart, pair your floral dress with a leather jacket and black leather boots, and youโ€™re bound to rock the fashion scene.

3. Long-sleeve Dress

Not only do long-sleeve dresses come in a variety of styles, they are the perfect choice for the transitional period. On formal occasions, you can wear a fitted long-sleeve dress paired with classic heels. Or, if youโ€™re planning to go on vacation, you can find gorgeous kaftans online and wear them with booties or knee-high boots in the evening.

4. Off-the-Shoulder Top

Off-the-shoulder tops are perfect for creating a casual, yet sensual, look that draws attention to your shoulders. During the summer, you probably wore it with denim shorts for a classic look; however, on those chilly fall nights, skinny trousers and booties are your best friends. To add some personality, grab a patterned scarf or fun crossbody bag.

5. Safari Shirt

A beautiful safari shirt is yet another piece perfect for fall, as you transition from denim shorts to denim jeans. For a down-to-earth, casual look, tuck your safari shirt into a long skirt, or go for a pencil skirt and kitten heels for a chic, elegant vibe.

6. A Cool Jacket

A statement jacket is a must-have piece that will complete any fall outfit. A stylish, high-quality jacket is definitely worth investing in, because it can last you for years. An edgy leather jacket is a perfect choice for urban looks or to spice up light, feminine pieces. For a more sophisticated look, try a suede jacket with white skinny jeans and block heels.

7. Pencil Skirt

A trendy pencil skirt does not only accentuate your figure; it also elevates your fall outfits. If your style is more posh, you can wear a pencil skirt with a lace shirt and classic heels. And if you’re into more of a casual and cozy look, you can pair it with a loose sweater and sneakers.

Taking notes? The weather may be getting colder, but these 7 pieces will help you make the most of your closet and keep the summer spirit all throughout the fall season.

Start off with some definition to the eyes and use a brown eyeshadow, with a hint of orange, over the lids, and add a dark brown shade in the corners. Then, trace a thin black line along the lash line and in the corners of the waterline. To brighten up the face, gently pat on some pink in the corners of the eyes and the apples of the cheeks, and finally, swipe on a baby pink lipstick for a softer look.

Ever been frustrated with your place in the Instagram universe? If you fall under the umbrella of โ€œsocial influencersโ€, you know the struggle is real: Filters not coming out quite right, feed looking kind of meh. Not getting enough likes or comments, and seeing other usersโ€™ accounts growing exponentially while you stagnate or move at a crawl. And you know that followers translate into money and sponsors.

Though Instagramโ€™s initial intent was to allow users to share moments and memories with their friends, both brands and users quickly figured out how to monetize their accounts by showcasing products or services on their feed. Instagram has become the app of choice for getting famous, earning money, or running a business.

The app has undergone multiple revisions and redesigns since its inception, especially after being bought out by Facebook in 2012. Beyond cosmetic changes to the icon or feed displays, updates included new features like live streaming, shoppable features, direct messaging, Insta Stories (Facebookโ€™s answer to Snapchat), and numerous algorithm changes.

The algorithm changes are particularly important, as influencers who use Instagram as an income source study the algorithm changes religiously. By understanding the algorithm, users can somewhat predict the number of likes or comments a picture will receiveโ€”Timing is critical. Targeting certain demographics and time zones can lead to higher commissions, and if an influencer is being paid simply for the number of likes, understanding the nature of the algorithm can help get greater exposure. All of this takes a lot of hard work, with many hours spent on trial and error. The algorithm changes can wreak havoc on the lives of Instagrammers, and getting back into the rhythm of things can take weeks, even months.

An algorithm change happened a few months back, and most bloggers are still trying to figure out how to recover their engagement levels, wondering, โ€œWhat is really going on?  Why arenโ€™t we growing anymore?โ€ Even regular users donโ€™t see posts from their favorite accounts, which means less engagement and decreasing followers.

Throughout these tumultuous times, some influencers have somehow managed to remain unaffected by the algorithm changes and continue to growโ€”Are they somehow immune? These influencers may have charisma, beauty, or talentโ€ฆ They may be great marketing strategists finding new opportunities. Or?

Of course, it is no secret that many influencers, brands, celebrities, and the media regularly use tools and methods to grow their numbers, from individual bloggers paying a few bucks to international brands spending hundreds of thousands of dollars.  The quality of these followers is somewhat questionable, as millions of fake accounts have come into existence.

Instagram has been trying to crack down on this burgeoning industry.  A couple of years ago, Instagram terminated untold numbers of fake accounts, embarrassing many celebrities in the process.  The sudden drop in numbers exposed the magnitude of the fake-follower epidemic.

Why is having big numbers so important? Many brands still value sheer numbers and award influencers in the hope that it will help the brand gain potential customers. Sure, this approach can yield results. Many bloggers are truly influential, and their readers trust their opinions enough to make purchases. Unfortunately, this situation fuels an underground system of buying fake likes, followers, and engagement; the desire to grow and get the best sponsors is a powerful motivator. Even though many brands continue to focus on the number, others are catching on to the Instagram charade.

While some companies are developing specialized software to perform their own analytics, there are commonly available tools online to know if a blogger or influencer is truly legit. Here are a few ways to know if a blogger isnโ€™t being completely truthful:

1. Social Blade. Itโ€™s a tool that allows you to check any influencer and see how fast they grow, how many people follow them on a daily basis, and how many people they follow or unfollow. You can even see graphs that display trend lines of their growth.  A line that appears like a staircase usually means something is up, most likely that the influencer is buying followers. Natural growth is usually a smooth line.

2. Check their followers. It is very easy to see if an influencer is truly “real!โ€ If you see no profile pics or only male accounts, this is a huge red flag. Typically, large numbers of males are not a target demographic (unless itโ€™s a male influencer, of course!), which means the influencer will not bring any sales.

3. Watch to see if they engage with their followers. It is understandable that larger influencers donโ€™t have the time to reply to every single comment; however, if a blogger has less than 250K, itโ€™s possible he or she can find time to occasionally reply to questions. Engagement is a trait brands increasingly want to quantify and shows the influencer cares about his or her audience.

4. Infiltrate an Instapod. Instapods are commenting groups where influencers agree to support one another with likes and comments. It shows engagement, making the blogger look legitimate. An inherent problem here is that Instapods help obscure a bloggerโ€™s true clout or engagement with a wide audience. It may be tough breaking in the circle of trust thoughโ€”These groups are closely managed.

5. Quality of the comments. There are a lot of different commenting bots out there.  These bots simply add random comments to give the appearance of engagement, but they are easy to spot. Telltale signs are off-topic responses, or simple one-word comments that generically apply to everything. Itโ€™s worth pointing out that many bloggers will leave one-word comments, but if you really do some snooping, you can figure out if an influencer is employing a bot based on repetition of the same comments.

.How long will this go on? Recently many tools for getting followers, comments, and likes, such as Instagress, Massplannner, and FollowLiker have been shut down.  Something else must fill the void. Is this the beginning of the end for this shadow industry? With Facebookโ€™s uncanny ability to find revenue opportunities, things will most certainly change in the future. Donโ€™t be caught in this impending implosion.

Brands cannot be naรฏve forever, and the best outcome for the industry would be to appropriately match brands to influencers in tune with the brandโ€™s message.

So for all the bloggers and influencers out there worrying about your growth: Our advice is to stop stressing out! Continue to be yourself and find healthy ways to grow and push yourself to be creative. But bloggers, brands, and followersโ€”We must all collectively care about content and quality to prevent Instagram from devolving into one continuous fake feed.

It’s not the brightest; it’s not the shiniest. But it’s real.

Itaewon, itโ€™s a place to cast off the chains of expectations; itโ€™s a chance to be free and try new things.

Entering a world of all that is foreign, and finding bits and pieces of cultures from all over the world as they resist gentrification.

Going with the flow, taking in the bustling streets. The dazzling sunlight fades to flickering lights and brightens back to a brand new day.

It canโ€™t be restrained, and it canโ€™t be held back.

It may not be rich in money, but itโ€™s rich in heart.

With the release of Sistar’s final singles, it’s time for us to say farewell to this legendary K-pop group. Releasing songs like clockwork every summer, it’s hard to imagine having fun in the heat without their upbeat, catchy tunes. And it wasnโ€™t just their music, but also their fashion, that had us on the edge of our seats for the last seven years.

Centella asiatica, also known as ‘tiger herb’, has been used for over hundreds of years to heal wounds, scars, burns, and to treat skin disorders such as eczema and psoriasis.

Although centella asiatica has been apparent in Korean skincare products for a number of years, this super ingredient has taken over the spotlight as Korean road shop brands have been releasing new centella asiatica-focused products.

Clinical studies show that centella asiatica assists in wound healing and is an effective anti-inflammatory agent for troubled skin. It soothes irritation caused by acne or free radicals from pollution and sun damage. Not only will it help skin heal faster, it also aids in lightening acne scars and other unwelcome hyperpigmentation.

There are a plethora of centella asiatica products in the Korean market, ranging from skincare to makeup. Take a look at our recommendations below and find the right product for you!

1. Do you think there are any differences in the fashion industry from when you first started blogging and now? If yes, what?

I first started blogging in 2008. At that time, the website Cyworld was at the height of its popularity.  Since this was before the establishment of the concept of โ€œbloggingโ€ or a โ€œfashion bloggerโ€ identity, there werenโ€™t many people to show your style to; instead, it was popular to show off your selfies (known as โ€œ์–ผ์งฑโ€ or literally, the โ€œbest faceโ€) on social media. There were barely any blogs that only discussed fashion, so when I began blogging I was quite surprised when there were more people visiting my site than expected. Back then there was also a limit to the platforms you could use. Naver blogs allowed you to communicate with Koreans, but it was difficult to communicate with people outside of Korea and to share videos.

Nowadays, you have Instagram, Snapchat, blogs, Youtube, Afreeca TV and many, many more. With this, there is a system in place for people to share their style and connect with people across the globe. And now itโ€™s not just photos, but also sharing videos. Plus people have gotten used to the speed of communication, and so platforms where you can respond right away, like live streams, are especially powerful. I think that thanks to the development of these tools, weโ€™re living in a world where anyone can become a fashion model or blogger. And since people share so much through social media, you can see specific items explode in popularity and become global trends.

2. Is anything the same? If yes, what?

Compared to the past, we are more susceptible to trends, but there are always things coming in and out of fashion. The only difference is the speed of how trends spread. Whether itโ€™s then or now, Koreans have always especially paid attention to what other people wear and to try their best to not fall behind the trends.

3. How do you feel your style has changed since you started blogging?

I think my early-mid 20s was a process of figuring out what styles look good on me. I thought that, without a doubt, โ€œbeing fashionableโ€ meant being someone who dressed differently than others, standing out. So if you look at those pictures youโ€™ll see me wearing these orange leggings I wouldnโ€™t dare wear now, or necklaces with lots of chains. Makeup too, I always put on strong makeup so my college friends would think I looked scary.

Now I know what kind of things look good on me. Instead of standing out, I choose items that work for my body type and skin tone, and I mix and match designer brands with things from Dongdaemun Market. I focus on finding a balance.

4. How would you describe the Korean fashion industry?

I think the Korean fashion industry has undergone a lot of evolution and development. If you look back to even just 10 years agoโ€”at the beginning of the Hallyu Waveโ€”there was a huge focus on celebrity fashion. But now, Korean fashion is not about celebrities, but trying to figure out what people are actually wearing on the street. Anyone can call themselves a โ€œํŒจํ”ผ(fashion person)โ€ and can make trends and actively express themselves; in turn, brands also use these people to promote.

Because of this, I think todayโ€™s fashion industry in Korea is a place where street style, high-end fashion, casual looks, and other kinds of style can all coexist.

5. What do you think is the future of the Korean fashion industry?

Korean fashion is slowly getting more and more attention from abroad, but I think it will be hard for the industry to develop even further until a few things are dealt with.

First, we need to create an environment where the creative freedoms of Korean designers are respected. If you just look at Seoul Fashion Week, the focus is on โ€œwhat sellsโ€ instead of creativity and art. If the designers have a low buy rate, itโ€™s difficult to be approved for future shows. So designers are forced to design pieces that follow whatโ€™s hot for that season, and this is the reason you see so many familiar clothes each season between Korean designers.

Additionally, Korean ํŽธ์ง‘์ˆ (curated stores) donโ€™t even buy products directly from designers. They wait for customers to order the product before they place orders with the designers. Because of this many Korean designers depend on revenue from foreign buyers.

And finally, the Korean fashion industry has an excessively โ€œcliqueyโ€ attitude. They emphasize the importance of Korean blood and ethnicity, and position themselves to ensure they exclude foreigners wanting to enter the Korean market when there are already limited opportunities for foreigners to do shows or exhibitions.

If these things can be fixed, I think the Korean fashion industry will only continue to grow.

Weโ€™ve skipped spring and landed right into summer, but weโ€™re still head over heels for these street style looks. We donโ€™t know about you, but weโ€™re taking notesโ€”can never have too much inspiration!

And the best part? Seoul is becoming more international than ever, attracting fashionistas from all over the globe. With a good mix of Korean and foreign talent, weโ€™ve got the best of both worlds.
